CCI Approves Acquisition of Three International Cricket Franchises Including Rajasthan Royals
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the acquisition of three professional cricket franchises by Westview Cricket Limited and Poonawalla Sports & Fitness Private Limited.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has granted approval for the proposal by Westview Cricket Limited and Poonawalla Sports & Fitness Private Limited to acquire three professional cricket franchises. These franchises include the Rajasthan Royals of India, the Paarl Royals of South Africa, and the Barbados Royals of Barbados.
Under the proposed combination, Westview Cricket Limited, registered in the United Kingdom, and Poonawalla Sports & Fitness Private Limited, incorporated in India, will acquire these three professional cricket franchises. Poonawalla Sports & Fitness Private Limited is wholly owned by Mr. Adar Cyrus Poonawalla.
EM Sporting Holdings Limited (EMSH), a private company registered in Mauritius, plays a significant role in this process. EMSH serves as the holding company for Royal Multisport Private Limited (RMPL), Paarl Royals Limited, and Barbados Royals Limited. Notably, RMPL owns and operates the Rajasthan Royals franchise, which participates in the Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 cricket tournament organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The Competition Commission of India has informed that a detailed order regarding this matter will be issued at a later date.
