De-addiction and Family Support Transform Life of Bihar Youth Through Roshni IRCA
A graduate youth from Bihar's Darbhanga district has overcome drug addiction through treatment at the Roshni IRCA center and the continuous support of his family.
A success story shared by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment highlights how timely treatment and family support can rescue an individual from substance abuse and lead them toward a healthy future. Rajveer (name changed), a 28-year-old graduate from the Darbhanga district of Bihar, was struggling with severe emotional and behavioral problems due to drug consumption, which had also impacted his family life.
Concerned by the changes in Rajveer's behavior, his father brought him to the 'Roshni IRCA' (Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts) center on March 8, 2026. Initially, it was difficult for Rajveer to adapt to the treatment environment, and he became irritable; however, professional care and steady support from his family provided him with stability.
At the Roshni IRCA center, Rajveer was provided with medical detoxification, regular medication, individual counseling, group therapy, re-education sessions, and activities such as yoga. Additionally, the center ensured family counseling, home visits, and follow-up assistance.
During the treatment process, Rajveer gradually began sharing his concerns, which led to positive changes in his behavior. Currently, Rajveer is living a completely drug-free life and has started a small business with the support of his family. His experience demonstrates that with proper treatment, counseling, and active family participation, an individual can rebuild their daily routine and livelihood.
