National Human Rights Commission to Hold Open Hearing and Camp Meeting in Patna on October 7-8

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India, is organizing a two-day 'Open Hearing and Camp Meeting' at Gyan Bhawan in Patna on October 7-8, 2026, to hear cases of alleged human rights violations in the state of Bihar. During these proceedings, complainants and relevant state officials will be present.
On the first day of the program, the full Commission—consisting of NHRC Chairperson Justice V. Ramasubramanian and members Justice (Dr.) Vidyut Ranjan Sarangi and Mrs. Vijaya Bharti Sayani—will hear the cases.
On the second day, October 8, 2026, the Commission will conduct hearings through two separate benches. The Chairperson will hear cases related to alleged bonded labor, while a division bench comprising Justice (Dr.) Vidyut Ranjan Sarangi and Mrs. Vijaya Bharti Sayani will hear compliance-related matters and other complaints of alleged human rights violations.
Following the hearings, the Commission will interact with representatives from civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and human rights defenders. The closing session of the program will feature a meeting with senior state officials to discuss critical issues pertaining to human rights.
It is noteworthy that since 2007, the NHRC, India, has been organizing such camp meetings periodically across various states with the objective of providing victims of human rights violations easier access to justice.
