Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan attended the 11th Sant Ishwar Samman-2026 held in New Delhi as the chief guest. On this occasion, he presented the 'Sant Ishwar Seva Samman' to individuals and organizations dedicated to exemplary and selfless service to society.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice President stated that the Sant Ishwar Samman is a recognition of the spirit of selfless service and a celebration of India's culture of compassion and responsibility. He congratulated all the award winners for their extraordinary contributions to the nation. Shri Radhakrishnan praised the Sant Ishwar Foundation and Rashtriya Seva Bharati for consistently conducting this initiative for 11 years, noting that such awards inspire others to follow the path of service.
Referring to Indian tradition, the Vice President remarked that our civilization and culture have always taught us that "serving humanity is serving God" (Nar Seva hi Narayan Seva). He emphasized that India's great saints and thinkers have inspired people to rise above selfishness and dedicate themselves to the welfare of others.
Discussing the goal of 'Viksit Bharat @ 2047', he clarified that development cannot be measured solely by economic growth, infrastructure, or technological progress. According to him, a truly developed India is one where every citizen experiences dignity, opportunity, and hope. Citing the Swachh Bharat Mission as an example, he explained how 'public participation' transformed a government program into a mass movement.
Expressing concern over the future of the youth, the Vice President warned against the dangers of drug abuse. He described the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan' launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in August, and the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat 2029 Roadmap' launched by Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, as significant steps toward creating a drug-free India.
Concluding his address, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan emphasized compassion, character, and social responsibility, expressing hope that the lives of the award winners would inspire youth to dedicate themselves to the welfare of society and strengthen their sense of duty.
