Three Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Officials Die in Mizoram Road Accident
Three members of the Ministry, including IIS officers, lost their lives in a road accident while on official duty in Mizoram.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has expressed deep grief over the untimely demise of three of its members who lost their lives in a severe road accident in Mizoram. The accident occurred on October 1, 2026, when a vehicle carrying officials on official duty plunged into a deep gorge.
Among the officials who lost their lives were Dr. Angam Pame (IIS), who served as the Additional Director General of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Imphal; Mr. Nampibou Marinmai (IIS), who held the position of Director (News) at Doordarshan Kendra and All India Radio, Aizawl; and Mr. H. Lianvela (MTS) of the Central Bureau of Communication, Field Office, Aizawl.
Dr. Angam Pame, aged 58, joined the Indian Information Service (IIS) in 1994. He served in various positions across Delhi, Imphal, Pune, and Shillong. Belonging to the Zeme Naga community of Manipur's Tamenglong district, Dr. Pame played a significant role in strengthening coordination between media and government departments in the North Eastern region. He is survived by his wife, Ajuna Pame, a son, and a daughter.
Mr. Nampibou Marinmai was an officer of the Indian Information Service and also served as the Chairman of the Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC). He had previously worked as a Public Relations Officer in the Ministry of Defence. He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
Mr. H. Lianvela, aged 52, had entered government service in 1998. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, and a grandson.
Mr. Gojendra Dey, a driver at the Central Bureau of Communication, Field Office, Aizawl, was also injured in the accident and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. The Ministry has extended its condolences to the bereaved families and colleagues during this tragic time, remembering their dedicated service to the government.
