Union Health Ministry Organizes Shramdaan Campaign Under 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026'
Senior officials and employees of the Ministry, including Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Secretary of the Department of Health Research, participated in the cleanliness drive held in New Delhi.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare organized a voluntary cleanliness drive (Shramdaan) under the 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' campaign near Gate Number 3 of Kartavya Bhavan-1 on Dr. Rajendra Prasad Marg in New Delhi.
The Shramdaan was led by Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Secretary of the Department of Health Research and Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The campaign saw active participation from Mrs. Aradhana Patnaik, Additional Secretary and Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM), Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Additional Secretary and Director General of the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), Dr. Lavnish G. Krishna, Director General of Health Services (DGHS), and other senior officials and staff of the Ministry.
Following the theme 'One Day, One Hour, Together,' the participating officers and employees worked with a spirit of collective effort. Addressing the media, Dr. Rajiv Bahl emphasized the need to make cleanliness a continuous collective effort and inspired citizens and officials to contribute to maintaining a healthy environment.
Mrs. Aradhana Patnaik highlighted the importance of 'public participation' and individual responsibility in creating healthy public spaces. She stated that responsible behavior and active participation from every individual are essential for maintaining continuous cleanliness.
This event is part of the 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' campaign, which aims to strengthen public participation by involving citizens across the country in cleanliness efforts. The campaign conveys the message that cleanliness is not merely an institutional responsibility but a social commitment.
Expressing its commitment to the goals of 'Swachh Bharat,' the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare emphasized the deep connection between cleanliness, public health, and a healthy lifestyle. According to the Ministry, responsible waste management and continuous awareness are necessary for the creation of sustainable public spaces.
