Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, inaugurated the restoration of the Guna Head Post Office in Madhya Pradesh on September 17, 2026. This step has been taken with the objective of modernizing postal infrastructure and providing more citizen-centric services.
The renovation and redesigning of the Guna Head Post Office were carried out at an approximate cost of 38 lakh rupees. This work was completed in accordance with the design guidelines of the 'School of Planning and Architecture' (SPA), New Delhi, as part of the Department of Posts' nationwide modernization initiative. The goal of this renovation is to create a modern, convenient, and customer-friendly environment for citizens utilizing postal and financial services.
During the program, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia praised the efforts toward the modernization of the postal network. He stated that post offices equipped with modern facilities would provide new momentum to services and improve quality. He highlighted the systematic token system introduced at the post office, which will eliminate the need for customers to wait in long queues. Additionally, a digital display screen has been installed to provide information on service timelines, through which duplicate passbooks can now be issued within one day.
Emphasizing digital transformation, the Union Minister explained that the expansion of digital technology has reduced the need for citizens to visit post offices repeatedly. He noted that citizens can avail themselves of many services from their homes via 'Dak Seva' and the 'Dak Mitra App,' making processes faster and more accessible.
This restoration is part of the Department of Posts' broader efforts to expand postal infrastructure, strengthen digital delivery, and enhance employee capacity. It is expected that this upgraded facility will provide better postal and financial services to the people of Guna and surrounding areas.
