Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan Urges Youth to Embrace Compassion and Service at AIIMS Deoghar's Second Convocation
Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan urged graduating doctors and health professionals at the AIIMS Deoghar convocation to let competence, compassion, and character guide their paths.

Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan addressed the second convocation ceremony of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Deoghar, in Jharkhand. Congratulating the graduating doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, he described the event as a celebration of the aspirations of the Santhal Pargana region. He stated that AIIMS Deoghar symbolizes the growing opportunities in medical education and health services for tribal and rural communities.
Referring to the legacy of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Sidho-Kanhu, and Tilka Manjhi, the Vice President urged the graduates to take their knowledge beyond the confines of the institution and provide service in villages, tribal communities, and remote areas of the country. He emphasized that a medical degree is not merely an achievement but a duty to serve the underprivileged and vulnerable sections of society with compassion and dedication.
The Vice President praised the contribution of AIIMS Deoghar in strengthening regional health services, specifically commending community initiatives related to malaria eradication, lymphatic filariasis surveillance, anemia, hearing health, and school health. Mentioning the expansion of medical infrastructure under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, he noted that the number of medical colleges in the country has increased from 387 before 2014 to 846 currently.
Discussing the goal of 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047, he said it is essential to ensure access to quality healthcare services and higher education in every state, district, and village. He expressed satisfaction that among the 173 graduating students, 132 were women, reflecting the country's progress toward women-led development.
The Vice President called upon young professionals to responsibly adopt emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), telemedicine, and digital diagnostics to ensure their benefits reach remote areas. Additionally, he urged them to spread the message of "Say No to Drugs" among the younger generation.
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Governor of Jharkhand, Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar; Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav; Jharkhand's Minister for Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare, Dr. Irfan Ansari; Lok Sabha MP Dr. Nishikant Dubey; Rajya Sabha MP Shri Pradeep Kumar Verma; Deoghar MLA Shri Suresh Paswan; President of AIIMS Deoghar Professor M. V. Padma Srivastav, and Executive Director Professor Nitin M. Gangane.
