65th National Exhibition of Art: Lalit Kala Akademi Honors 20 Artists with Awards
The Lalit Kala Akademi has announced 20 award winners for the 65th National Exhibition of Art, featuring artworks across various mediums from across the country.
The Lalit Kala Akademi is organizing the 65th National Exhibition of Art (NEA), one of the most prestigious annual exhibitions of contemporary visual art in India. The objective of this exhibition is to provide a national platform for artists to showcase their creativity and to connect audiences with the country's evolving visual arts.
This year's exhibition received widespread support, with 2,495 artists from 27 states and union territories submitting a total of 6,175 artworks. Following a detailed selection process, a first-level jury selected 270 artworks for the exhibition. These works encompass various artistic methods and techniques, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, and mixed-medium.
To determine the awards, a second-level jury was formed, which selected 20 distinct artworks by 20 artists for the Lalit Kala Akademi Awards. The list of award winners includes Chandra Shekhar Sain (Terracotta sculpture), Gopal Chandra Naskar (Acrylic painting), Kishore Kumar Narkhadivala (Oil painting), Mrinal Dey (Acrylic painting), Nidhi Chopra (Ceramic sculpture), Nimai Singh Sarungbam (Teak wood sculpture), Pankaj Kumar Sharma (Panel works), Pooja Rajput (White marble sculpture), Praveen Kumar (Mixed medium painting), Pritam Madhukar Deoskar (Printmaking), Rajendra Prasad (Wash painting), Ramesh Vitthal Thorat (Oil painting), Raviram Ramakrishnan (Copper sculpture), Sanjay Kumar (Mixed medium painting), Sanjay Kumar Sahni (Oil painting), Sanjeeb Kumar Gogoi (Acrylic and oil painting), Santa Deb (Ceramic sculpture), Siddharth Shahjirao Shingade (Mixed medium painting), Usharanjan Mandal (Mixed medium), and Vijendra Sharma (Oil painting).
According to the Lalit Kala Akademi, this exhibition is not only a medium for artistic recognition but also helps in strengthening India's creative economy. By bringing together artists, collectors, and institutions on one platform, it creates professional opportunities.
