72nd National Film Awards: Grand Ceremony in Ekta Nagar on September 22, Anant Nag to Receive Dadasaheb Phalke Award
The President will honor artists for their cinematic achievements of 2024 at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony to be held in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat.
The 72nd National Film Awards ceremony, dedicated to honoring the outstanding achievements of Indian cinema, will be held on September 22, 2026, in Ekta Nagar, Kevadia, Gujarat. During this prestigious event, the President will present awards to the selected winners for the year 2024.
Veteran actor Anant Nag will be conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2024 in recognition of his incomparable contribution to Indian cinema. Over a career spanning more than five decades, Anant Nag has made significant contributions to both Kannada and Indian cinema.
According to the award announcements, 'Article 370' has been selected as the Best Feature Film. Meanwhile, 'Bhangar' will receive the award for Best Non-Feature Film, and 'Ram-Nami' will be honored as the Best Documentary. In the acting categories, Mammootty for 'Bramayugam' and Kartik Aaryan for 'Chandu Champion' have been chosen as Best Actor. The Best Actress award will be given to Yami Gautam for 'Article 370'. Additionally, Randeep Hooda will receive the Best Debut Director award for the film 'Swarajya Veer Savarkar'.
Films such as Kalki 2898 AD, Amaran, Pushpa: The Rule Part-02, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Stree 2 will also be honored in various other categories.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has taken a new initiative by organizing the ceremony in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, moving it away from the national capital, Delhi. The Ministry has decided that in the coming years, the National Film Awards celebration will be organized in different parts of the country to bring the festivities closer to people across various regions and to showcase the cultural and cinematic diversity of the nation.
