9th India International Water Week 2026 to Begin September 22 in New Delhi, Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan to Inaugurate

The Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, is set to organize the 9th India International Water Week (IIWW) 2026 from September 22 to 26, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The theme for the event has been designated as 'Climate Resilient Water Management.' The five-day international program will be inaugurated on September 22, 2026, in the presence of the Vice President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, the Union Minister for Jal Shakti, and other dignitaries.

The primary objective of this event is to provide a multidisciplinary platform for policymakers, global water leaders, experts, researchers, and young professionals to discuss solutions for emerging water challenges and foster innovation and partnerships for a water-secure future.

Key features of the program include global and national participation, with the Netherlands and Germany joining as partner countries. At the national level, 14 states and 6 central ministries and departments will participate as partners, strengthening cooperation between the center and the states.

The event will feature ten major platforms, including ministerial plenary sessions, sessions for global water leaders, a startup forum, a youth forum, and an industrial forum. Discussions will center on seven main sub-themes, including inclusive water rights, technology for water security, climate risk, and sustainable water resource management.

An international exhibition running from September 22 to 25 will showcase innovative technologies for climate-resilient water management. Additionally, the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation will organize the 'Second International WASH Conference 2026' from September 22 to 24, focusing on drinking water access and public health.

The event will conclude with a valedictory session on September 25, 2026, followed by study tours on September 26. The overall goal of the program is to translate dialogue into practical recommendations and partnerships to strengthen water security and climate resilience.
