Amit Shah Inaugurates Fourth Edition of Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show in Greater Noida

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Mr. Amit Shah inaugurated the fourth edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Yogi Adityanath.

In his address, Amit Shah stated that this event is paving the way for the 'Make in India' mission. He noted that 12 years ago, the Indian economy was counted among the 'Fragile 5,' but it is now among the top five economies in the world. Referencing the 110th birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, Mr. Shah remarked that the free trade and agriculture-based economic policies advocated by him have become the foundation of current growth.

Discussing the transformations in Uttar Pradesh, the Union Home Minister said that due to the 'double engine' government, the state has now become a center for investment, free from fear. He recalled that in 2013, the law and order situation was such that investment summits had to be held in Delhi, but today the state is setting a goal to become a $1 trillion economy. Mr. Shah highlighted that while crimes such as illegal weapons and vehicle theft were prevalent in the state previously, it is now witnessing the development of defense corridors, vehicle manufacturing hubs, and medical device parks.

Detailing progress in the defense sector, he mentioned that investments for defense manufacturing are flowing into six nodes across Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Lucknow, Agra, Aligarh, and Kanpur. India's total defense production has crossed 1.78 lakh crore rupees, and defense exports have seen a 56-fold increase compared to 2013-14. He specifically mentioned the BrahMos missile made in Uttar Pradesh and the AK-203 assault rifle manufactured in Amethi.

Regarding economic data, Amit Shah stated that Moody's has increased India's growth rate estimate from 6% to 7%, and the Japanese rating agency JCR has upgraded India's sovereign rating from BBB+ to A-. He noted that a record GST collection of 2.11 lakh crore rupees was achieved in July, and electronic exports have increased 11-fold compared to 2015.

Speaking on the state's development model, he described 'One District One Product' (ODOP) as the axis of economic growth. In line with this, the 'One District, One Cuisine' (ODOC) website was also launched, through which local delicacies such as Malaiyo from Varanasi, Petha from Agra, Peda from Mathura, and Gajak from Meerut will be available nationwide. Mr. Shah expressed confidence that this 2026 fourth edition of the trade fair would break all records of 2025, a year in which over 5 lakh people visited and more than 2,400 MOUs were signed.
