Awareness Program Under 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' Held in Solan, Secretary Sudhansh Pant Administers Pledge to Students
Secretary of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Sudhansh Pant, raised awareness among youth about the ill effects of drug abuse and administered a pledge to build a drug-free society at the Vertex Institute in Solan.

An awareness program under the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' (NMBA) was organized at the Vertex Institute in Solan, Himachal Pradesh. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of the Government of Himachal Pradesh. Vertex Institute is an authorized partner of the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Shimla, under the Government of India.
Mr. Sudhansh Pant, Secretary of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, attended the event as the chief guest. Also present on the occasion were Mr. Divyanshu Singhal, Additional District Commissioner of Solan; Mr. Keshav Nand Gautam, Deputy Director (SCDP) of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of Himachal Pradesh; and District Welfare Officer Mr. Vivek Arora.
The primary objective of the program was to make the youth aware of the adverse consequences of drug consumption and to ensure their active participation in building a healthy and safe society. Mr. Sudhansh Pant interacted with students studying Computer Applications and Artificial Intelligence (AI) under PM-AJAY. He encouraged the students to strengthen their digital capabilities, develop industry-essential skills, and effectively utilize new technologies in the information technology sector. Additionally, he distributed certificates to meritorious students and praised the efforts of Vertex Institute in providing modern skill-based IT courses such as Artificial Intelligence.
A pledge ceremony was also organized during the program, where Mr. Pant administered the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat' oath to the students. During the event, approximately 96 students delivered messages against drug abuse through creative activities including painting, slogan writing, debates, speeches, and short plays.
The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) was launched on August 15, 2020, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Its goal is to spread widespread awareness about the ill effects of substance abuse and to strengthen efforts to prevent drug addiction. The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment serves as the nodal department for this campaign, focusing on awareness, prevention, youth participation, treatment, and rehabilitation.
