CBDT to Launch 'Special Campaign 6.0' to Enhance Cleanliness and Efficiency in Government Offices
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) will conduct Special Campaign 6.0 from October 2 to October 31, 2026, focusing on office cleanliness and the disposal of pending matters.

The Government of India is set to launch 'Special Campaign 6.0' from October 2 to October 31, 2026, with the objective of ensuring cleanliness in government offices and the disposal of pending cases. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), which falls under the Department of Revenue of the Ministry of Finance, will actively participate in this initiative led by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), collaborating with its subordinate offices across the country.
This campaign builds upon the achievements of the previous 'Special Campaign 5.0'. During Special Campaign 5.0, the CBDT conducted cleanliness drives across 1,521 locations and disposed of 2.3 million physical files along with more than 10,000 e-files. During this period, the Income Tax Department cleared 1.67 million square feet of office space and raised 3.2 million rupees through waste disposal. Additionally, more than 21,251 public grievances were resolved.
Continuing its commitment to responsive governance, the CBDT has disposed of 52,290 public grievances and over 6,776 grievance appeals between December 2025 and August 2026.
Under the upcoming Special Campaign 6.0, the CBDT will focus on four key areas aligned with digital transformation and sustainable development goals: the disposal of e-waste, record management, optimization and beautification of office space, and the swift redressal of grievances.
According to the CBDT, these initiatives are in line with government guidelines to improve citizen services and institutionalize cleanliness.
