Department of Science and Technology Completes Preliminary Phase of 'Special Campaign 6', Implementation to Begin in October
The DST has developed a detailed action plan for Special Campaign 6 focusing on cleanliness, disposal of pending cases, and e-waste management, to be implemented from October 2 to October 31, 2026.

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has successfully completed the preliminary phase of 'Special Campaign 6'. The implementation phase of this campaign will run from October 2 to October 31, 2026, for which the department has prepared a comprehensive action plan. The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) of the Government of India is operating this campaign as the nodal department.
The primary objective of this campaign is to strengthen cleanliness, improve administrative efficiency, ensure the timely disposal of pending cases, and promote better management of official resources. During the preliminary phase, the DST conducted a detailed assessment of pending VIP references, public grievances, parliamentary assurances, and other time-bound matters to take effective steps for their expedited resolution during the implementation phase.
This entire process was carried out across the DST's extensive institutional network, which includes subordinate offices, autonomous institutes, T-Hubs, missions, and laboratories. The department has identified various locations to make the workspace more organized and productive. Additionally, physical and electronic records, office scrap, and other materials were reviewed. During this period, measures such as the sorting of records and obsolete documents for digitization were identified, which will improve the management of institutional resources.
A key achievement of the preliminary phase was the successful uploading of expected targets on the SCDPM 6 portal. In collaboration with its autonomous institutions and subordinate offices, the department has finalized the action plan for the cleanliness drive, record management, and vacating office space. Furthermore, special emphasis has been placed on the identification, segregation, and scientific disposal of e-waste.
Beyond ground activities, the DST has planned awareness initiatives through communication channels such as social media and PIB releases to increase awareness of the campaign's objectives. Through this campaign, the department aims to institutionalize cleanliness, transparency, accountability, and good governance, while creating a productive work environment.
