DPIIT to Launch 'Special Campaign 6.0' Focusing on Cleanliness and Disposal of Pending Cases
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, will conduct Special Campaign 6.0 from October 2 to 31, 2026, focusing on cleanliness, record management, and e-waste disposal.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is set to implement 'Special Campaign 6.0' from October 2 to October 31, 2026. The primary objective of this campaign is to institutionalize cleanliness across the department and all its subordinate and autonomous organizations, reduce the number of pending cases, improve record management, and ensure the proper utilization of office space.
The campaign will be executed in two phases. The first preparatory phase will run from September 15 to September 30, 2026, focusing on the identification of targets, review of records, and necessary preparations for the main event. Following this, the main campaign will be operational throughout the month of October. This initiative will involve all 19 affiliated, subordinate, and autonomous organizations under the administrative control of DPIIT, including their field and branch offices located across the country.
The department stated that significant results were achieved during the previous 'Special Campaign 5.0.' During that period, 1,572 physical files were reviewed, of which 1,119 files were weeded out following prescribed procedures. The disposal of scrap and useless records freed up 11,235 square feet of office space and generated revenue amounting to 1,769,569 rupees. Additionally, efforts were made toward the settlement of public grievances and appeals, as well as the simplification of rules.
Under Special Campaign 6.0, special emphasis will be placed on e-waste (electronic waste) management. This will include the identification, collection, and environmentally friendly disposal of electronic waste through authorized agencies. Furthermore, the campaign will encourage solutions that promote the principles of sustainability and the circular economy.
As an example, the department highlighted the "Waste to Wealth" initiative started by the Indian Rubber Materials Research Institute (IRMRI), an autonomous organization under DPIIT. Under this initiative, waste rubber scrap was used in the construction of roads and access paths, utilizing 10-15 percent waste rubber particles in the cement-concrete mix. The campaign aims to strengthen a culture of cleanliness, accountability, and good governance in government workplaces to ensure these results remain sustainable in the future.
