eSanjeevani Achieves Major Milestone: Surpasses 50 Crore Teleconsultations, Expanding Healthcare Access
India's national telemedicine service, eSanjeevani, has completed 50 crore teleconsultations, significantly strengthening healthcare accessibility in rural and remote areas.

India's national telemedicine service, 'eSanjeevani,' has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 50 crore (500 million) teleconsultations. As of September 15, 2026, a total of 50,00,92,730 teleconsultations were recorded across all 36 states and union territories of the country. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, this digital initiative has proven instrumental in overcoming barriers of time and distance, particularly for citizens living in rural and remote regions.
According to usage statistics of the platform, women accounted for 57.14 percent of the total consultations. Meanwhile, 40.15 percent of consultations were sought by citizens aged 46 years and above, which includes senior citizens (60 years and older) at 16.25 percent. Currently, the service is available through more than 1.42 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandir representatives, 19,473 medical centers, and 901 online OPDs, with 2,41,923 registered healthcare providers connected. The platform is available in a total of 15 languages, including English and 14 Indian languages, providing an average of 2.5 to 3 lakh consultations daily.
In terms of technical advancement, eSanjeevani has now integrated an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Clinical Decision Support System, which has enhanced the decision-making capabilities and efficiency of healthcare providers. This innovation was honored with the Gold Award at the National e-Governance Awards 2026. Additionally, it has been linked with the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS)-112 to establish better coordination between emergency services and remote medical expertise.
As part of service expansion, specialist OPD consultation facilities have been launched through prominent government institutions such as AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Jammu, and AIIMS Patna. In the future, this facility will be extended to other major institutions, including AIIMS, JIPMER, and PGIMER Chandigarh, ensuring that patients do not have to travel long distances for specialist consultations.
eSanjeevani is a 'Made-in-India' solution developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Mohali. Through the collaboration of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and technical partners, the platform has evolved into a comprehensive national digital health platform, marking a step toward realizing the vision of a Self-reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat) and a Developed India (Viksit Bharat).
