Indian Railways Approves ₹209 Crore for Electronic Interlocking at 7 Solapur Division Stations
A plan worth ₹209 crore has been approved to modernize the signaling infrastructure at seven stations within the Solapur Division of Central Railway.
Indian Railways has approved a total cost of ₹209 crore to implement Electronic Interlocking (EI) systems at seven stations in the Solapur Division of Central Railway. This project will be executed under the High Density Network (HDN) 7 route.
Under this plan, electronic interlocking systems will be installed at Mohol, Mundhewadi, Bale, Solapur, Hotgi Junction-Hotgi A Cabin, Shahbad, and Wadi Junction. Additionally, approvals have been granted for the implementation of Kavach, Automatic Block Signaling (ABS), and Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) works at these stations.
The introduction of this modern signaling system will strengthen the railway signaling infrastructure across the entire section. Furthermore, it will facilitate the implementation of 'Kavach', the indigenous automatic train protection system.
Electronic Interlocking is a modern computer-based signaling system that replaces traditional relay-based interlocking. This system provides more reliable control of points and signals, allowing errors to be detected and corrected more rapidly. Additionally, it simplifies maintenance and improves the overall efficiency of train operations.
This project is part of Indian Railways' ongoing efforts to modernize signaling infrastructure, enhance railway safety, and increase operational capacity on high-density routes.
