Indian Railways Approves ₹252 Crore for 'Kavach 4.0' System in Lucknow Division
The indigenous rail safety system 'Kavach 4.0' will be installed across 607.7 route kilometers of the North Eastern Railway's Lucknow Division with an approved budget of ₹252 crore.
Indian Railways has granted approval for the implementation of the 'Kavach 4.0' system in the Lucknow Division of the North Eastern Railway, aiming to further strengthen rail safety through indigenous technology. Under this project, the safety system will be installed across 607.7 route kilometers of the Lucknow Division at a total cost of ₹252 crore.
The approved project will expand the 'Kavach 4.0' system to the remaining identified sections of the division, making the safety infrastructure for rail operations more robust than before.
'Kavach' is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system specifically designed to enhance operational safety. The system is capable of preventing Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD) incidents. Additionally, it assists in ensuring the safe movement of trains by automatically applying brakes when necessary and providing continuous monitoring of rail operations.
This initiative is part of the ongoing process to deploy 'Kavach' across the extensive network of Indian Railways. The primary objective of the entire plan is to modernize rail safety systems and increase the safety and reliability of railway operations.
