Mahanadi Coalfields Limited Launches 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' Campaign
MCL is organizing a series of cleanliness, awareness, and community engagement activities from September 17 to October 2, 2026.

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) is conducting the 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' campaign from September 17 to October 2, 2026. Under this campaign, MCL is organizing a wide range of cleanliness drives, awareness programs, student engagement activities, and community initiatives across its headquarters and various operational areas.
The primary objective of this campaign is to promote responsible waste management, environmental awareness, and sustainable systems among employees, students, and local communities, establishing cleanliness as a collective responsibility. The campaign commenced at the MCL headquarters in Sambalpur, where employees were administered a cleanliness pledge. On this occasion, female employees of MCL flagged off the 'Swachhata Rath,' symbolizing collective participation and responsible waste management.
To increase awareness at the grassroots level, cleanliness drives were organized in various schools and colonies. Additionally, MCL organized an exposure visit to the Balibandha Wealth Center (Material Recovery Facility) for approximately 50 students from DAV School. The visit aimed to provide students with a practical understanding of solid waste management, waste segregation, and the principles of 'Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.'
To connect the youth with cleanliness and sustainable development, MCL also organized a speech competition at IIM Sambalpur and a debate competition at SUIIT, Burla. 'Swachhata Hi Seva' is an ongoing initiative, with several other activities scheduled to take place across MCL's headquarters and operational areas until October 2, 2026. Through this campaign, MCL seeks to strengthen the culture of environmental responsibility and cleanliness within its establishments and surrounding communities.
