Maharashtra's Shalaka Starts Home-Based Beauty Parlor with NSFDC Loan Assistance
Shalaka Nagotkar from Thane established her own business and became self-reliant after receiving financial assistance of ₹3.75 lakh under the NSFDC Term Loan Scheme.

The Term Loan Scheme of the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC), operated under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, has opened new opportunities for economic independence for women entrepreneurs. In this regard, Mrs. Shalaka Darshan Nagotkar, a graduate and resident of Kalyan (West) in the Thane district of Maharashtra, has set an example of self-reliance through her professional skills and government support.
Holding a diploma in beauty parlor management, Mrs. Shalaka wanted to utilize her professional knowledge to become financially independent. However, the high rent of commercial shops posed a significant obstacle for her. After discovering information about NSFDC schemes via the internet, she contacted the Thane branch of the Leather Industries Development Corporation (LIDCOM).
Mrs. Shalaka was provided financial assistance of ₹3,75,000 under the NSFDC Term Loan Scheme. The loan was disbursed on October 30, 2024. Due to the high cost of commercial spaces, she decided to operate the beauty parlor from her own home in Kalyan (West). She utilized the loan amount to purchase the necessary equipment and materials required to provide professional beauty and grooming services.
Through her dedication and skill, she has stabilized her business. Currently, her beauty parlor generates a net monthly income of approximately ₹25,000 to ₹30,000, which she uses to support her family. Mrs. Shalaka expressed her gratitude to the NSFDC for providing this financial assistance.
