Ministry of Home Affairs to Focus on Cleanliness and Disposal of Pending Cases Through 'Special Campaign 6'

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India is set to actively participate in 'Special Campaign 6', organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to institutionalize 'Swachhata' (cleanliness) and reduce government pendency, the primary objective of this campaign is to promote cleanliness, streamline functioning, and resolve pending complaints.

The campaign will be conducted in two phases. The first phase, the 'Preparatory Phase', will run from September 15 to September 30, 2026, while the second 'Implementation Phase' will be held from October 2 to October 31, 2026.

Under the guidance of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, special attention will be given to regional and field offices that have direct contact with the public. The main focus of 'Special Campaign 6' within the Ministry of Home Affairs will be on creating sustainable and eco-friendly workplaces, alongside the disposal of pending cases across various categories. This includes references from Members of Parliament and state governments, parliamentary assurances, inter-ministerial consultations, public grievances, appeals, and improved record management.

The Ministry has also sensitized the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Central Police Organizations (CPOs) regarding the importance of this campaign and encouraged them to achieve the best results according to the prescribed standards. To ensure data accuracy and efficient coordination, the Ministry of Home Affairs is utilizing an inter-ministerial portal, where all divisions of the ministry, including the Delhi Police and Union Territories, upload their data.

Previously, the ministry made significant progress during the period from November 2025 to August 2026. During this time, 761 cleanliness drives were conducted, and 299 references from Members of Parliament, 336 from state governments, and 7 from the Prime Minister's Office were disposed of. Additionally, 52,050 public grievances and 7,410 public grievance appeals were resolved, and 102,084 square feet of office space was vacated in the offices of the MHA and CAPFs.
