Ministry of Mines Organizes National Official Language Conference 2026, Emphasizes Effective Use of Hindi
The National Official Language Conference 2026, organized by the Ministry of Mines, featured discussions on Hindi literature, media, and the use of the official language, concluding with an awards ceremony for employees.
The Ministry of Mines organized the 'National Official Language Conference 2026,' a gathering dedicated to the effective use of the Hindi language, literature, media, and the official language. The program commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by the singing of the national song 'Vande Mataram' and the national anthem.
On this occasion, Ms. Geetika Sharma, Director of the Ministry of Mines, welcomed Secretary Mr. Keshav Chandra, Additional Secretary Dr. Veena Kumari D., and Joint Secretary Ms. Farida M. Naik. Joint Secretary Ms. Farida M. Naik stated that the primary objective of the conference is to inspire officers and employees to use Hindi in a natural and effective manner. Similarly, Additional Secretary Dr. Veena Kumari D. emphasized the continuous use of simple and clear Hindi in daily official government duties.
Secretary Mr. Keshav Chandra highlighted the rich tradition of Hindi literature, stating that literature not only enriches the language but also strengthens cultural consciousness and sensibilities within society. He described the conference as an opportunity to connect the current work culture with the heritage of the Hindi language.
Various panel discussions were organized during the conference. In a session titled "Writing Strengthens Hindi Literature," Prof. Sudeesh Pachouri, Dr. Mamta Kalia, and Prof. Jitendra Srivastava shared their views on the social relevance of writing, with the session moderated by Dr. Anjum Sharma. Meanwhile, in the "Hindi Language and Media" session, Ms. Ranjana Singh Rathore, Mr. Vineet Kumar, and Mr. Ashok Srivastava discussed the growing reach of Hindi in digital media and its role in public communication, with Mr. Rahul Dabas serving as the moderator.
Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Mr. Satish Chandra Dubey, and Joint Secretary Ms. Farida M. Naik presented awards to the winners of competitions held during the Hindi Fortnight. In his address, Mr. Satish Chandra Dubey described Hindi as a powerful language of communication that connects various cultures. He further noted that the promotion of regional languages and local dialects should be encouraged alongside Hindi.
The program concluded with a poetic evening, featuring poetry recitations by Dr. Vishnu Saxena, Ms. Baljeet Kaur, and Colonel Gautam Rajrishi.
