The Ministry of Textiles conducted various activities under Special Campaign 6.0 on October 2, 2026, to promote cleanliness and sustainable workplace practices on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

The Ministry of Textiles organized a series of cleanliness and sanitation activities under 'Special Campaign 6.0' on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, 2026. The program aimed to foster a culture of cleanliness, hygiene, and responsible practices within workplaces.
Led by the Secretary (Textiles), the event took place at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Delhi, with the participation of senior ministry officials, faculty members, and NIFT Delhi staff. During the event, participants took a cleanliness pledge, followed by a sanitation drive within the NIFT Delhi campus. The primary objective of this drive was to improve campus maintenance, promote waste management, and spread awareness regarding a healthy environment.
As part of the same campaign, a textile waste collection drive was launched starting from Gandhi Jayanti (October 2, 2026). Special bins have been installed at various locations for the collection of textile waste. This initiative seeks to encourage the responsible collection, segregation, recycling, and upcycling of consumer-used textile waste across central government office complexes and residential colonies in New Delhi. The Ministry has requested all officers and employees to participate in the campaign by depositing their old textile waste in the designated collection bins.
Under the implementation phase of Special Campaign 6, officials and employees of the Ministry's attached and subordinate offices also took the cleanliness pledge. Additionally, a comprehensive cleanliness and decluttering drive was conducted from October 2 to 4, 2026, at the National Jute Board campus at Patson Bhavan in Kolkata and its regional office in New Delhi.
Through Special Campaign 6, the Ministry of Textiles is striving for continuous improvement, focusing specifically on cleanliness, the disposal of obsolete and unusable items, better workplace management, e-waste management, and the resolution of pending references.
