MSME and MoSPI Ministries Sign MoU to Strengthen Statistical Business Register
The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation have signed an MoU to share business data and develop the Statistical Business Register.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI). The primary objective of this agreement is to establish an institutional mechanism for sharing relevant data to develop and strengthen the Statistical Business Register (SBR).
The MoU was signed by Dr. Rajnish, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner of the Ministry of MSME, and Dr. Dalip Singh, Additional Director General of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, in the presence of senior officials from both ministries.
Under the agreement, unit-wise enterprise registration data available with the MSME department will be shared via an API. This two-way API will provide the necessary data to prepare the National Statistical Business Register (NSBR). This initiative will create a structured format for sharing information related to the enterprise registration mechanism, thereby improving the comprehensiveness, uniformity, and reliability of business data for statistical purposes.
The Statistical Business Register (SBR) is a centrally maintained database that is updated regularly. It contains details of registered statistical units involved in economic activities, such as businesses, enterprises, and establishments, within a specific geographical area. This register serves as the infrastructure for the economic statistics system, assisting in the identification of target populations for economic surveys, sample selection, and the production of business demographic statistics.
