NFSC Fellowship Helps Lucknow's Ashish Kumar Singh Pursue PhD Dream

Ashish Kumar Singh, a 29-year-old resident of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, aspired to pursue a PhD in Political Science. However, due to severe financial pressure, he was unable to realize this dream. His family found it difficult to bear the costs of tuition fees, books, accommodation, internet, and other research-related expenses.

Since April 2024, Ashish Kumar Singh has been receiving financial assistance under the National Fellowship for Scheduled Caste (NFSC) students. Before receiving this fellowship, he was entirely dependent on his family for his educational and other expenses. Limited resources had hindered his access to research materials and academic activities, making it challenging to focus on his doctoral work.

Under the NFSC scheme, Ashish Kumar Singh is being provided with a monthly fellowship of 44,400 rupees for 26 months, along with a house rent allowance and contingency support. This financial aid has enabled him to purchase books, utilize online resources, participate in seminars and conferences, and cover daily research expenses.

Sharing his happiness, Ashish Kumar Singh stated, "The NFSC fellowship has reduced my financial pressure and helped me focus on my PhD research."

This support has not only reduced the financial burden on his family but has also increased his confidence and self-reliance. He is now able to dedicate more time to his PhD. After completing his doctoral studies, Ashish hopes to become an Assistant Professor in a government institution. Additionally, he is interested in preparing for competitive examinations conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission.
