NSFDC Loan Scheme: Patiala's Harmesh Singh Achieves Economic Independence Through Financial Assistance
Harmesh Singh from Punjab has significantly increased his monthly income by starting an electrical goods business through the NSFDC term loan scheme.

According to a success story shared by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, financial assistance is playing a crucial role in helping individuals from underprivileged communities establish sustainable livelihoods and improve their economic conditions. Mr. Harmesh Singh, a 41-year-old resident of Patiala, Punjab, has emerged as a prime example of this impact.
In 2025, Mr. Harmesh Singh availed a loan of 3 lakh rupees under the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC) term loan scheme through the Punjab SC Land Development and Finance Corporation, Patiala. He utilized this loan amount to start his own business selling electrical goods, providing a stable source of income for himself and his family.
Prior to receiving the financial assistance, Mr. Singh's monthly income was 14,000 rupees. After establishing the business and repaying the loan, his monthly income has increased to 22,000 rupees. This growth in income has helped him meet his household needs and support his family more securely. This self-employment opportunity has reduced his dependence on limited income sources and provided him with financial stability.
Expressing gratitude for his success, Mr. Harmesh Singh said, "This financial assistance has helped me establish my electrical goods business and improve my monthly income. It has given me greater economic stability and enabled me to support my family more securely."
This case demonstrates how timely financial assistance empowers individuals to establish enterprises and move toward economic self-reliance by increasing their income potential.
