PM Narendra Modi to Visit Chennai on October 11, Launch Projects Worth ₹13,000 Crore
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for various development projects exceeding ₹13,000 crore in Chennai, spanning metro rail, highways, railways, and ports.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on October 11. During this visit, he will lay the foundation stones, inaugurate, and dedicate to the nation development projects worth more than ₹13,000 crore across various sectors, including metro rail, highways, railways, ports, petroleum, and education.
According to the Prime Minister's schedule, he will travel from Chennai Metro's Porur Bypass station to Poonamallee Bypass station at approximately 11:30 AM. Following this, at 12:15 PM, he will visit the Jalakandeswarar Temple for prayers and worship, and subsequently visit the Brain Center located at IIT Madras. At 1:30 PM, he will address a public gathering on the occasion of the inauguration and foundation stone laying of the development projects. At 3:00 PM, he will attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Jai Gopal Garodia Hindu School Matriculation Higher Secondary School.
In the sector of transport and infrastructure, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Poonamallee-Vadapalani section of the second phase of the Chennai Metro Rail project, constructed at a cost of approximately ₹4,900 crore. This project includes a 3.7-kilometer two-level structure and an advanced signaling system for driverless trains. Additionally, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for national highway projects costing approximately ₹3,700 crore, which include the Vadugapatti-Therkuvengannalur section of NH-744, the Madurai Ring Road section of NH-744A, and the Tiruvarur Bypass on the Nagapattinam-Thanjavur section of NH-83.
In the railway sector, the Prime Minister will inaugurate infrastructure projects worth over ₹750 crore, including the Karaikal-Peravur railway line and three railway over-bridges in the Coimbatore region. Furthermore, five Amrit stations—Palani, Vellore Cantonment, Ambasamudram, Paramakudi, and Namakkal—will be inaugurated under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
To strengthen maritime infrastructure, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for four projects at the Chennai Port (a packed storage yard, four EXIM warehouses, an advanced cruise terminal, and a sailors' club), eight development projects at V.O. Chidambaranar Port, and the Coal Berth-3 project at Kamarajar Port.
In the fields of energy and education, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Group-II/III Lube Oil Base Stocks (LOBS) project at the Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) Manali Refinery, costing ₹1,620 crore. Additionally, he will dedicate the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre (SGBC) at IIT Madras to the nation and release a human ischemic stroke atlas titled 'C-Stroke'.
