PM Souvenirs E-Auction 2026: Showcasing Assam's Rich Cultural Heritage and Traditional Crafts

The 8th edition of the PM Souvenirs E-Auction 2026, organized by the Ministry of Culture, has specifically highlighted the rich cultural traditions and heritage of Assam. This collection includes various souvenirs reflecting the state's renowned handloom traditions, bamboo and cane craftsmanship, metal crafts, traditional arts, and heritage architecture. These items showcase the craftsmanship of daily life in Assam and its deep cultural memory.

The collection also includes souvenirs associated with significant historical figures and cultural institutions. Key items include artifacts and commemorative objects related to Bir Chilarai, Bharat Ratna Gopinath Bordoloi, Swargadeo Chaolung Sukaphaa, and Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev. Additionally, a representation of the 1894 Patharughat battle, as well as models of the Bordua Satra and the Sahid Smarak area and park, are part of the collection.

These souvenirs from Assam are part of a comprehensive collection of 1,498 items available in this e-auction. The auction provides an opportunity for citizens, collectors, institutions, and art lovers to acquire souvenirs that were presented to the Prime Minister on various occasions. An exhibition has also been organized at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in New Delhi, where visitors can appreciate the artistic significance of these items.

All funds generated from this e-auction, conducted by the Ministry of Culture through the NGMA, will be donated to the 'Namami Gange' program, a national mission for the conservation and rejuvenation of the Ganges River.

Some of the prominent contributions from Assam include: - A Muga silk artwork of Rani Sati Sadhani, crafted in the Ahom Kham style. - A handmade wall clock made from natural bamboo and cane. - An eco-craft gift box made from water hyacinth, containing hand-woven slippers, baskets, and hats. - A traditional Assamese Japi, adorned with red and blue patterns. - Traditional Assamese Gamosas featuring intricate red and gold motifs. - A handmade brass Khorai, reflecting the state's metal craft skill. - A miniature replica of the Kamakhya Temple made of wood.
