SECL Concludes 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' Campaign on Gandhi Jayanti
South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) cleaned over 1 million square feet of area across Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh as part of its sanitation drive and launched 'Special Campaign 6'.

South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal, concluded the 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' campaign with programs organized on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti across its establishments in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
During the campaign, which ran from September 17 to October 2, 2026, SECL conducted extensive activities across more than 55 sanitation target units in its operational areas, resulting in the cleaning of over 1 million square feet of area. To increase community participation and awareness, the company organized street plays, school competitions, shramdan (voluntary labor), and sanitation awareness programs involving employees, workers, students, and the local community.
With the conclusion of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, the implementation phase of 'Special Campaign 6' has commenced. Following the completion of the preparatory phase on September 30, 2026, this implementation phase will run from October 2 to October 31, 2026. This year's campaign places special emphasis on the effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste.
Under Special Campaign 6, SECL has identified 225 sites for sanitation activities, with a target to clean approximately 4 million square feet of area. Additionally, the company has set a target to dispose of 3,300 metric tonnes of scrap during this period.
As part of its records management, SECL will review 500 physical files and weed out 200, while 7,000 e-files will be reviewed to close 3,000 of them. During the implementation phase, SECL will focus on maximizing space utilization, scrap disposal, reducing pending cases, and e-waste management at its headquarters and operational areas.
