Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav Requests Surya Kiran Air Show at Maharashtra Tourism Sites
Union Minister of State Prataprao Jadhav has requested Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to organize an Indian Air Force Surya Kiran team demonstration at Lonar, Ajanta, and Ellora in November 2026.

Union Minister of State for Ayush (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, has written a letter to Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh requesting the organization of aerial displays by the Indian Air Force's 'Surya Kiran' Aerobatic Display Team at major tourist destinations in Maharashtra. The proposal suggests holding these events between November 23 and November 25, 2026.
In his letter, Minister Jadhav proposed the Lonar Crater Lake in Buldhana district, as well as the Ajanta and Ellora caves, as venues for these demonstrations. Highlighting the reputation of the Surya Kiran team for its precision, skill, and coordinated aerial maneuvers, he stated that such displays showcase India's aviation capabilities. Furthermore, he noted that these events increase public interest and encourage youth to explore career opportunities within the Indian Air Force.
The proposal emphasizes the unique geological and environmental characteristics of the Lonar Crater Lake, which is a major attraction for tourists due to its saline and alkaline waters. Additionally, the cultural and historical significance of the Ajanta and Ellora caves, both included in the UNESCO World Heritage list, was highlighted.
Shri Jadhav has requested the Ministry of Defence to provide the necessary approval and issue directions to the concerned officials for organizing the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Display and related inspirational activities on any day between November 23, 24, or 25, 2026. The primary objective of the proposed air show is to increase public attraction toward these tourist destinations and highlight Maharashtra's rich natural, cultural, and heritage tourism potential.
