Yuva Sangam: Uttarakhand Delegation Meets West Bengal Governor R. N. Ravi
Under the Ministry of Education's 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' program, youth from Uttarakhand explored the cultural heritage of West Bengal and met with the Governor.

The Department of Higher Education, under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, is organizing the seventh phase of 'Yuva Sangam' as part of the 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' program. The primary objective of this initiative is to promote national unity and strengthen mutual relationships among the youth of the country. Through this program, participants from 20 states and union territories are experiencing India's diverse cultural traditions, educational institutions, innovation systems, and developmental initiatives.
The Uttarakhand delegation, with Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University serving as the nodal institution, began its visit to West Bengal on October 7, 2026. The delegation is being hosted by IIT Kharagpur, which is introducing participants to the state's spiritual heritage, vibrant traditions, and academic landscape.
During the visit on October 8, 2026, the delegation met with the Governor of West Bengal, Shri R. N. Ravi. During this meeting, discussions focused on education, cultural exchange, and the importance of strengthening bonds between the youth of different states. This dialogue provided students and teachers from Uttarakhand an opportunity to understand the unique cultural identity and traditions of West Bengal.
As part of their cultural journey, the Uttarakhand delegation visited the historic Prinsep Ghat in Kolkata and the Sundarbans on October 9, 2026. While visiting Prinsep Ghat, located on the banks of the Hooghly River, participants experienced the historical charm and vibrant atmosphere of Kolkata.
This entire journey is an effort to develop lasting friendships beyond geographical boundaries and realize the spirit of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' through interaction with various communities. The seventh phase of Yuva Sangam is strengthening the vision of an inclusive and united India through shared experiences and mutual respect.
