Assam: Sandeep Reclaims Life Through De-addiction Center, Now Works at the Same Facility

A man has made a fresh start in life after defeating drug addiction with the help of the Integrated Rehabilitation Care Agency (IRCA) located in Hailakandi, Assam. Sandeep (name changed), 33, grew up in an Assamese family and moved to Guwahati in search of work after completing his education up to the ninth grade. While in Guwahati, he learned to drive and began earning a living, but under the influence of peers, he became addicted to narcotics.

This dependency on drugs had a profound impact on Sandeep's health, professional life, and family relationships. A significant portion of his income began to be spent on drugs, leading to severe financial distress and isolation. Desiring to recover and regain his family's trust, Sandeep was consistently encouraged by his relatives to seek professional help.

On September 6, 2025, Sandeep received assistance through the Integrated Rehabilitation Care Agency (IRCA) in Hailakandi, which is operated by the South Barbond Village Upliftment Committee. The center provided him with medical care, psychological and family counseling, rehabilitation support, as well as motivational and behavioral guidance. Through group activities and life-skills coaching, he was helped in establishing a healthy routine and managing stress.

Sharing his happiness, Sandeep stated, "With the support of my family and the care I received at IRCA, I am rebuilding my life and working once again."

Following his treatment, Sandeep has made positive progress in his rehabilitation and has successfully reunited with his family. Currently, he is employed as a multi-tasking staff member at the same Integrated Rehabilitation Care Agency (IRCA) in Hailakandi. This role has provided him with financial stability and allows him to contribute to the institution that helped transform his life.
