CBIC Prepares for 'Special Campaign 6' with Focus on Cleanliness and E-Waste Management
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) will conduct Special Campaign 6 from October 2 to October 31, 2026, aiming to enhance cleanliness in government offices and settle pending cases.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) is set to launch 'Special Campaign 6' from October 2 to October 31, 2026, across all its zones, directorates, and regional units. The primary objective of this campaign is to institutionalize cleanliness within government offices and reduce the number of pending cases. The CBIC has instructed all its units to ensure active and meaningful participation in the initiative.
This current drive is based on the success of Special Campaign 5.0. During the previous phase, the CBIC achieved 100 percent of its targets regarding selected cleanliness sites, references received from Members of Parliament, public grievances, and appeals against public grievances. Extensive measures were taken during that period to review physical files, vacate office space, and manage waste disposal.
According to data from Special Campaign 5.0, a total of 41,055 physical files were reviewed, of which 23,743 files were found to be unnecessary. This process resulted in the vacation of 43,009 square feet of office space. Under the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, a total of 22,728 kilograms of waste was disposed of, including 8,801 kilograms of e-waste. Additionally, CBIC units safely disposed of approximately 250 kilograms of narcotics and about 2.6 million foreign cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and related items.
Under Special Campaign 6, while cleanliness, record management, space management, and the swift disposal of pending cases remain priorities, special emphasis will be placed on the effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste. The CBIC aims to make cleanliness and environmentally responsible disposal practices a permanent part of its administrative operations.
