Department of Food and Public Distribution Emphasizes Good Governance and Cleanliness through 'Special Campaign 6'
The Department of Food and Public Distribution has launched Special Campaign 6 to resolve pending cases and clean offices, involving the review of thousands of files.

The Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD), under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, has launched 'Special Campaign 6' in collaboration with its subordinate offices and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). The main theme of this campaign is "Institutionalizing Swachhata and Reducing Pendency."
The primary objective of this campaign is to streamline office procedures through cleanliness, better records management, resolution of public grievances, and the disposal of waste materials, including e-waste, to promote citizen-centric and efficient governance. Under the campaign, a total of 949 sites have been identified for cleaning within the department and its offices. Additionally, processes for the disposal of e-waste and other unusable items are being adopted to ensure better utilization of space and to increase revenue.
To settle pending matters, the department has identified 13 references from Members of Parliament, 691 public grievances, 5 references from state governments, and 17 appeals related to public grievances for expedited resolution. Significant work is also being carried out in records management, with 31,117 physical files and 13,058 e-files identified for review. Out of these, the review of 3,875 old files has been completed, and they have been marked for disposal.
The department clarified that currently, no PMO references, inter-ministerial references, or cases related to the easing of rules and procedures are pending under the campaign, although new cases are being continuously monitored. The department remains committed to achieving all goals of Special Campaign 6 within the stipulated timeframe and improving efficiency and good governance across all its offices.
