Departmental Summit on Women and Child Development to be Held in New Delhi on October 8-9
Organized by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the summit will bring together central and state governments to deliberate on key issues such as nutrition, child protection, and women's safety.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development will organize a Departmental Summit on October 8 and 9, 2026, at the Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi, as part of the efforts to realize the vision of 'Viksit Bharat@2047'. This event marks the second summit in a series of departmental summits envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The primary objective of this summit is to strengthen cooperative federalism and foster a sense of collective ownership toward national priorities. Through this platform, political leadership and senior officials from central and state governments will convene to discuss regional priorities, share best practices, and agree on time-bound actions for improved governance and service delivery.
The two-day summit will focus primarily on four key themes: reimagining Anganwadi centers for better nutrition and early childhood education; strengthening protection mechanisms for vulnerable children; ensuring women's safety through the effective implementation of institutional and legislative measures; and reinforcing women's empowerment by enhancing the effectiveness of major schemes.
On the first day of the conference, discussions will cover improvements in the quality of take-home rations, freshly cooked meals, and nutrition tracker data. Other topics will include Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), protection systems for vulnerable children, and the implementation challenges regarding women's safety, including the influence of social media. The entire session of the second day will be dedicated to the outcomes of major women's empowerment schemes and strategies to improve their effectiveness.
In the closing session of the program, the key outcomes and the action plans to achieve them will be presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister's guidance is expected to strengthen the collective resolve of the center and the states and set the direction for decisive action on the agreed-upon outcomes.
