Drug-Free Youth Campaign Launched for Developed India, Special Programs to Run for 100 Weeks
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has initiated a nationwide 'Drug-Free Youth Campaign' to connect young people with health and life skills over a period of 100 weeks.

Under the 'Drug-Free Youth for Developed India' campaign, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports organized a 'National Pledge Ceremony' across the country on September 18, 2026. This campaign has been designed as a continuous program that will span 100 weeks, focusing specifically on 100 Sundays.
Organized in collaboration with 'MY Bharat-National Service Scheme' (NSS), this nationwide event saw participation from 259 institutions across all 28 states and 8 union territories of India. A total of 1,455 activities were conducted, with 1,47,798 participants taking part. The first day of the campaign primarily focused on 'prevention,' aiming to increase awareness and encourage youth to choose healthy and positive alternatives.
Youth participation was ensured through various mediums during the event. In the pledge-taking ceremonies, 45,082 participants took part across 320 activities, while 42,443 youth expressed their commitment through 407 signature campaign activities. For creative expression, 8,197 people participated in 198 street plays, and 28,466 individuals attended 302 youth-led discussions and seminars. Additionally, 23,610 participants joined in 228 activities organized through other means.
According to the framework of this campaign, the first phase will focus on 'My Health, My Pride.' This will be followed by activities such as 'Fit Youth,' 'Drug-Free Youth,' and 'Life Skills Month.' The overall objective of the program is to engage the youth through health, fitness, and life skills. In the coming weeks, continuous activities will be organized across various youth centers, institutions, and communities.
