National Institute of Siddha in Chennai Organizes Educational and Awareness Programs for 11th Ayurveda Day

The National Institute of Siddha (NIS), Chennai, an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, is organizing a series of educational and awareness programs from September 18 to 25, 2026, to commemorate the 11th Ayurveda Day. The primary objective of the week-long event is to increase awareness of Ayurveda, encourage interdisciplinary education, and empower academic knowledge among health professionals, faculty members, students, and researchers.

The programs commenced on September 18 with a dermatology seminar titled "Healthy Skin, Strong Tomorrow," organized by the Department of Aruvai, Kaan, Kaathu, Mookku, Thondai, Paal Mathram Thol Maruthuvam as part of 'Skin Awareness Month.' The official inauguration of the 11th Ayurveda Day celebrations at the institute took place during this event.

As part of the institute's activities, faculty members and students of NIS visited the VHS Hospital campus in Taramani and the Dr. Achanta Lakshmi Pathi Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (ALRARI), Chennai, on September 21 for academic interactions and institutional demonstrations. Subsequently, on September 22, a seminar on "Sophisticated Instrumental Approaches for Drug Standardization" was held at the Yoga Hall of the new Outpatient Department. Dr. T. Vinod Kumar, Research Officer (Chemistry) from the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), attended as the chief guest.

The series continued with seminars on "Future Perspectives of Integrated Ayush Practices" on September 23 and "Unique Concepts of Ayurvedic Principles and Clinical Diagnosis" on September 24. The entire event will conclude on September 25 with a practical training program focused on Ayurvedic para-surgical procedures.

These programs are being coordinated by the institute's faculty members in collaboration with the organizing committee. Faculty members, along with undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD scholars, are actively participating in these activities. Through these academic sessions and institutional collaborations, the National Institute of Siddha is promoting academic engagement with Ayurveda and integrated healthcare systems, aligning with the vision of the Ministry of Ayush.
