NFSC Scheme Transforms Meenakshi's Life; PhD Scholar Becomes Inspiration for Her Community

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has shared the success story of 36-year-old PhD scholar Meenakshi, a resident of Karimnagar, Telangana. Coming from the Scheduled Caste (SC) community, Meenakshi aspired to build a career in teaching, research, and the scientific field at a prestigious university, but financial instability remained a significant barrier to her higher education.

Meenakshi belongs to a community where access to higher education is limited, which led her to face challenges such as a lack of resources and confidence. However, during the period of 2022-25, she received financial assistance amounting to 11 lakh rupees under the 'National Fellowship for Scheduled Caste Students' (NFSC) scheme. This financial support alleviated her economic hardships and enabled her to successfully continue and complete her higher studies.

Speaking about her academic journey and the benefits of the assistance, Meenakshi said, “The NFSC scheme provided me with the necessary financial support to complete my PhD. Today, I am not only fulfilling my own dream but also helping other students from my community to dream big.”

Meenakshi's achievement demonstrates how targeted financial assistance can create new opportunities for academic advancement and social empowerment. During her journey, she also contributed to the education of other students who were deprived of higher education due to financial difficulties. Her story has inspired other students from socially marginalized communities to step toward higher education with confidence.
