President Droupadi Murmu Greets Nation on Eve of Gandhi Jayanti, Highlights Relevance of Peace and Non-Violence
President Droupadi Murmu has paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 157th birth anniversary and called upon the nation to pledge toward the creation of a developed India.

President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, issued a special message on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti. On the occasion of the 157th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, the President paid respectful tributes to him on behalf of all citizens.
In her message, the President noted that the global community holds the life and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi in high regard. Expressing concern over current global conditions, she stated that several regions of the world are currently experiencing an atmosphere of unrest and war, the effects of which are being felt by all countries. In such circumstances, the messages of peace and non-violence advocated by Mahatma Gandhi have become even more relevant.
Referring to India's future goals, President Murmu mentioned that the country is moving toward the national objective of becoming a developed nation by the year 2047. She clarified that in this journey of development, priority is being given to the values of sensitivity and inclusion to ensure that no individual in society is deprived of the benefits of progress. She described this vision as being in alignment with Mahatma Gandhi's ideal of 'Sarvodaya', which embodies the spirit of welfare and upliftment for all.
Finally, the President called upon the citizens of the country to take a pledge on the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti to contribute with full dedication toward building a self-reliant, empowered, and developed India through their moral conduct and active participation.
