Special Campaign 6: Preparatory Activities Intensify Across Government Ministries and Departments
Led by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, the preparatory phase of Special Campaign 6 is underway, with the implementation phase set to begin on October 2.

Preparatory activities for 'Special Campaign 6', launched by the Government of India, are being carried out at a rapid pace. The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) is serving as the nodal department for this initiative. The preparatory phase of the campaign runs from September 16, 2026, to September 30, 2026, after which the implementation phase will be effective from October 2 to October 31, 2026.
During the preparatory phase, various ministries and departments have appointed nodal officers in their subordinate offices, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and autonomous organizations, providing them with the necessary training for their roles. Key activities in this stage include activating regional personnel, identifying pending references, preparing lists of offices for the cleanliness drive, and assessing the volume of e-waste for disposal. Additionally, plans have been developed for 'Waste to Wealth' initiatives, upgrading office spaces, records management, and the preservation of historical records.
The progress of the campaign is being monitored through a dedicated web portal, where all ministries and departments are required to upload their designated targets. Recently, a second review meeting for nodal officers was held under the chairmanship of Mrs. Nivedita Shukla Verma, Secretary of DARPG. The meeting saw participation from 40 senior officers in person and over 800 officers virtually, representing more than 500 locations across 84 ministries, departments, PSUs, and regional offices. During the session, Mr. Punit Yadav, Additional Secretary of DARPG, presented the progress report of the campaign.
Several departments, including the Department of Posts, Department of Financial Services, Department of Defence Production, Department of Military Affairs, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Mines, Central Board of Direct Taxes, and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), shared their achievements from Special Campaign 5 and presented their frameworks for Special Campaign 6. Secretary Mrs. Nivedita Shukla Verma praised the efforts of the officers and urged them to extend the campaign to all PSUs and regional offices to make it the largest campaign to date.
Electronic, print, and social media are being used extensively to promote the campaign. To date, 1,039 tweets and 54 PIB statements have been released under the hashtag #SpecialCampaign6 on social media. The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances will also release a compilation of the campaign's best practices during Good Governance Week 2026.
