Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy Leads 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' Campaign, Appeals for Public Participation
Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy conducted a cleanliness drive in Chanakyapuri ahead of Gandhi Jayanti, calling on citizens to keep public spaces clean.

Union Minister for Coal and Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, participated in a cleanliness program organized under the 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' campaign at Yashwant Palace Market in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, ahead of Gandhi Jayanti. He was accompanied by the Secretary of the Ministry of Mines, Shri Keshav Chandra, along with senior officials from the Ministry and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
During the campaign, Shri G. Kishan Reddy interacted with sanitation workers and praised their dedicated contribution to maintaining the cleanliness of public spaces. He emphasized that cleanliness is not the responsibility of a single department but is a collective responsibility. He appealed to citizens to avoid throwing garbage into drains, roads, public areas, and water bodies, and urged them not to throw waste out of buildings. The Minister stated that continuous public participation and collective awareness are essential to maintain cleanliness.
Highlighting the importance of sanitation workers, Shri Reddy noted that they wake up early in the morning to ensure a clean environment for citizens, and therefore, it is necessary to honor their contributions. He called upon the people to step forward to make cleanliness an integral part of their daily lives.
On the occasion of the program, the Union Minister, the Secretary of the Ministry of Mines, and senior officials also participated in a plantation drive under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign. Through this initiative, a message of environmental responsibility and the creation of a clean and green India was shared. Finally, the Union Minister expressed his gratitude to all the sanitation workers, officials, and stakeholders who contributed to the Swachhata Hi Seva initiative.
