Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy Meets EV Beneficiaries and Distributors, Emphasizes Self-Reliant Electric Mobility
Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy interacted with electric vehicle beneficiaries and distributors in New Delhi to discuss creating a sustainable and self-reliant transport ecosystem in the country.
Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy, participated in an interaction program with electric vehicle (EV) beneficiaries and distributors from across the country at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Organized by the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), the event aimed to provide a platform for EV beneficiaries, distributors, and industry stakeholders to share their experiences and insights.
Addressing the gathering, Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy highlighted India's transformative journey toward sustainable and self-reliant electric mobility. He reiterated the government's commitment to building an 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) and achieving the vision of 'Viksit Bharat@2047'. Praising the leadership and vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Minister stated that India is moving steadily toward a clean, green, and self-reliant transport ecosystem.
Sharing the government's vision, the Minister mentioned the PM E-DRIVE scheme, which supports the adoption of EVs and the development of charging infrastructure. Additionally, he discussed the PLI-Auto and PLI-ACC schemes, which are strengthening the domestic manufacturing of advanced automotive technologies and battery cells. Shri Kumaraswamy emphasized the need for robust manufacturing, innovation, and global competitiveness to ensure an inclusive, affordable, and economically sustainable transition.
During the program, Secretary of the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Shri Kamran Rizvi, stated that electric mobility presents a massive opportunity for India to become a leading nation in the global arena. He highlighted key initiatives such as FAME-I, FAME-II, PLI Auto, PLI-ACC, PM E-DRIVE, PM-eBus Sewa (PM-eBS), and the Rare Earth Permanent Magnet scheme. Meanwhile, Additional Secretary Dr. Hanif Qureshi explained that localization is critical for building a strong automotive ecosystem.
The interaction saw participation from industry representatives, including Shri Sai Giridhar, President of the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), Shri Sushant Naik, Chairman-EMG of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), and Mrs. Anjali Singh, Nominated President of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA).
EV beneficiaries also shared their grassroots experiences. E-3W driver Ms. Sunita Chaudhary explained how the use of an electric three-wheeler has reduced operational costs and decreased fatigue during driving. Other beneficiaries highlighted the benefits of electric mobility for personal mobility, livelihoods, and freight transport, expressing confidence in the government's favorable policies.
