Amit Shah to Inaugurate Third National Conference of Anti-Narcotics Task Force in New Delhi on September 22
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the third national conference of ANTF heads in New Delhi and lay the foundation stones for new NCB zonal complexes in Lucknow and Dehradun.
Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, will inaugurate the third national conference of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) heads from various states and union territories in New Delhi on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. On this occasion, the Home Minister will release a television commercial (TVC) aimed at spreading awareness against narcotics and will lay the foundation stones for new Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal complexes in Lucknow and Dehradun.
Organized by the NCB, this two-day conference will be attended by ANTF heads from 36 states and union territories, along with representatives from relevant government departments and other stakeholders. During the event, the best-performing ANTFs will be honored, and the Home Minister will also launch the redesigned NCB website.
Based on the theme “Collective Resolve, Shared Responsibility,” the conference will focus on the progress of the goals set in the Vision Document (2026-29) for narcotics control and efforts to combat the trafficking and abuse of narcotics. Strategies related to supply reduction, demand reduction, and harm reduction will be discussed during the sessions.
Eight technical sessions will be conducted based on the four main strategic pillars of the Vision Document: Enforcement, Intelligence and Operations; Precursor and Synthetic Drugs Control; Demand and Harm Reduction; and Capacity Building and Coordination. These sessions will cover critical topics such as dismantling drug cartels, synthetic drugs, clandestine laboratories, illegal drug cultivation, and investigations involving the darknet and cryptocurrency.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the guidance of Home Minister Amit Shah, the Government of India is working in mission mode to protect the nation's youth from drug addiction. The government aims to build a developed India by 2047, for which the resolve of a drug-free India is essential. This conference will provide a platform to combat drug trafficking under the 'Whole of Government Approach' and strengthen the partnership between the NCB and state ANTFs.
