Central Information Commission Celebrates 'Hindi Pakhwada 2026' to Promote Official Language in Government Work

The Central Information Commission organized 'Hindi Pakhwada 2026' from September 14, 2026, to September 28, 2026, with the objective of promoting the use of Hindi in government operations. The primary goal of the event was to maximize the use of Hindi in daily administration and official communication to ensure adherence to the fundamental principles of the Official Languages Act, 1963.
During the fortnight, various competitions were conducted with active participation from officers and employees. On September 15, essay writing and impromptu poetry competitions were held, featuring topics such as the Hindi language and national unity, the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Nepal tragedy, the global impact of the BRICS Summit, and ethical dilemmas and employment impacts associated with Artificial Intelligence (AI). Additionally, competitions for Hindi noting and drafting were held on September 17, translation on September 18, a quiz on September 21, and an impromptu speech competition on September 23. On September 25, a debate competition was organized on the topic “Artificial Intelligence: A Tool for Job Creation or a Cause of Unemployment.”
Approximately 120 employees from various positions participated enthusiastically in these activities. To ensure broad participation, non-Hindi speaking employees were also invited and rewarded for their contributions. Furthermore, the Commission's personnel were encouraged to use Hindi as much as possible in the processing of official files and mail.
Following the conclusion of the events, an award distribution ceremony was held on September 30, 2026, at the seminar hall of the Central Information Commission in New Delhi. During the ceremony, the Chief Information Commissioner honored the winners with cash prizes and certificates of appreciation. Senior officers and staff of the Commission were present at the program. According to the Commission, these initiatives reflect its commitment to promoting Hindi in official workflows and fulfilling the objectives of good governance.
