Department of Fisheries Conducts Swachhata Pledge Under 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' Campaign
Dr. Abhilash Likhi, Secretary of the Department of Fisheries, administered a cleanliness pledge to over 1,000 participants during an event held in Gandhinagar.

The Department of Fisheries, under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAH&D), organized the 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' program on September 17, 2026, in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. On this occasion, Dr. Abhilash Likhi, Secretary of the Department of Fisheries, administered the cleanliness pledge to those in attendance.
Organized in hybrid mode, the event saw participation from Dr. Surbhi Rai, Joint Secretary (Marine Fisheries) of the department, and Mr. Arunkumar M. Solanki, Additional Chief Secretary (Fisheries) of the Government of Gujarat. Additionally, officials from the Department of Fisheries, Government of India, representatives from subordinate offices, fishermen, fish farmers, women fishers, fisheries cooperative societies, and industry representatives participated. A total of over 1,000 people took part in the pledge ceremony.
During the pledge, all participants resolved to maintain cleanliness, reduce the number of pending cases, promote efficient record management, and develop a transparent and citizen-centric work culture. The program emphasized a commitment to promoting cleanliness at workplaces, strengthening institutional accountability, and developing a culture of collective action. Furthermore, it highlighted the importance of active participation from all stakeholders in adopting efficient administrative processes and building transparent institutions.
This event is part of the nationwide 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026' campaign, conducted under the Swachh Bharat Mission from September 17 to October 2, 2026. The primary objective of this initiative is to strengthen the commitment to clean and healthy workplaces within the Department of Fisheries and its subordinate autonomous bodies, while promoting a culture of service and cleanliness.
