Department of Legal Affairs Organizes E-Waste Management Workshop Under 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026'

The Department of Legal Affairs organized an awareness workshop on 'E-Waste Management' on September 28, 2026, at Kartavya Bhavan-2 in New Delhi, as part of 'Special Campaign 6' and 'Swachhata Hi Seva 2026'. The event was attended by Dr. Rajiv Mani, Secretary of the Department of Legal Affairs, along with other officials and employees of the department.

The primary objective of the workshop was to inform participants about the importance of the responsible management of electronic waste (e-waste) and to encourage them to adopt environment-friendly methods in their daily lives and at the workplace. Addressing the participants, Secretary Dr. Rajiv Mani emphasized the necessity of e-waste management. He stated that it is essential to spread widespread awareness regarding the correct maintenance and disposal of electronic waste to minimize its adverse effects on the environment. He further advocated for the adoption of sustainable practices and the assumption of collective responsibility in this direction.

During the session, participants were provided with information on various technical aspects of e-waste management, including the proper segregation of electronic items, their safe collection, and responsible disposal and recycling. The workshop highlighted the '3R' approach—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle—to minimize the production of e-waste and ensure its recycling through appropriate channels.

The initiative also included discussions on the responsible disposal of obsolete electronic devices and their components, as well as the benefits of sustainable consumption. This event is part of the department's efforts to promote cleanliness, sustainability, and responsible waste management. The Department of Legal Affairs expressed its commitment to continue promoting a clean and organized workplace through awareness and active participation.
