Ministry of Coal Launches Special Campaign for E-Waste Management Under 'Special Campaign 6'
Following the guidelines of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, the Ministry of Coal conducted a campaign on e-waste management involving 2,152 employees from 74 field offices.

In accordance with the guidelines issued by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the Ministry of Coal conducted a special campaign focused on e-waste management across all coal sector field offices on October 6, 2026. A total of 2,152 employees from 74 field offices participated in this initiative.
To mark the occasion, a one-day workshop was organized in hybrid mode at the conference room of the Ministry of Coal, chaired by the Joint Secretary. During the workshop, Ms. Riya Soni, Scientist-B from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, delivered a presentation on the key aspects of e-waste management and the methods for its responsible handling.
The primary objective of the workshop was to raise awareness among officials of the Ministry of Coal and its Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) regarding the necessity of systematically segregating electronic waste and ensuring its proper disposal. Senior officials from the Ministry attended the program in person, while officials from Coal India Limited (CIL) and its subsidiaries, NLC India Limited (NLCIL), Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), the Coal Controller's Organization (CCO), and the Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization (CMPFO) participated virtually.
As part of the campaign, the Delhi-based office of the Coal Controller's Organization (CCO) organized a quiz competition on the theme of 'E-Waste Management.' Additionally, e-waste collection workstations (e-waste kiosks) have been established across various field offices to systematically collect and responsibly dispose of electronic waste at the ground level.
