Ministry of Defence Signs ₹586 Crore Contract for T-72 and T-90 Tanks
The Ministry of Defence has entered into an agreement with Accurate Industrial Controls Private Limited for the procurement of indigenous Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) for Indian Army tanks.
The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract worth ₹586 crore with Accurate Industrial Controls Private Limited for the procurement of Auxiliary Power Units (APU) for T-72 and T-90 tanks. The agreement was finalized on September 21, 2026, in New Delhi, in the presence of Defence Secretary Mr. Rajesh Kumar Singh.
An Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) serves as an alternative source of electric power generation for a tank's fire control system, firing circuits, gun stabilization system, and other auxiliary equipment. The use of indigenously developed APUs will enhance the reliability, durability, and operational readiness of the Indian Army's mechanized units.
This procurement marks a significant step toward the indigenization of critical subsystems for armored platforms, demonstrating research and development led by industry (Make-II). The process further reflects the effectiveness of transforming indigenous innovation into actual production and implementation.
This contract aligns with the Government of India's 'Viksit Bharat @2047' vision. It aims to achieve self-reliance in the defense sector and build a strong, globally competitive Indian defense industry.
