Ministry of Finance's Department of Economic Affairs Launches 'Special Campaign 6.0' Focusing on E-Waste Management and Pending Cases
The Department of Economic Affairs is organizing Special Campaign 6.0 from October 2 to 31, 2026, aimed at improving cleanliness, record management, and citizen services in government offices.

The Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) of the Ministry of Finance, along with its subordinate offices and organizations under administrative control, is conducting 'Special Campaign 6.0' from October 2 to October 31, 2026. This campaign is being implemented across the government in collaboration with the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). The primary objectives of the campaign are to institutionalize cleanliness, reduce the number of pending cases, improve record management, and enhance the experience of citizens within government offices.
A significant goal of Special Campaign 6.0 is to ensure the effective collection, segregation, and scientific disposal of e-waste. This is being carried out in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, to promote environmentally friendly practices and ensure the efficient use of office space. Particular attention is being given to regional and field offices that are in direct contact with the public and provide essential public services.
Under the campaign, the Department of Economic Affairs is identifying and taking action to resolve pending cases related to Members of Parliament, state governments, inter-ministerial references, parliamentary assurances, references from the Prime Minister's Office, public grievances, and grievance appeals. Additionally, a process of reviewing, classifying, and weeding out physical records according to government guidelines, as well as closing e-files, is being adopted.
As part of this initiative, the department is focusing on activities such as cleanliness drives, space management, the disposal of obsolete materials, and the simplification of procedures. The campaign also aims to adopt and document digitalization, citizen-centric initiatives, and innovative working methods. The implementation of Special Campaign 6.0 is being monitored through the SCDPM portal, with regular reviews of its progress.
